Do you comply with all requirements and regulations?

At a pharmaceutical company north of Copenhagen, there is a light gas smoldering..

The light gas is called ammonia, also known as NH3. Ammonia is a colorless and toxic gas with a penetrating and unpleasant smell, and can be fatal to both humans, animals and the environment.

If a light gas breaks loose, it will rise into the air. Our service technicians have therefore placed the stand-alone gas detector GP-SA up under the ceiling, where it is easiest to catch any leakage from a light gas such as ammonia, and thus quickly shut down the process.

The large flash/horn next to the GP-SA will warn the staff with sound and flash if the ammonia breaks loose. It is also good practice to place a clear sign next to a flashing light/horn, so that employees know what is being notified.

When installing safety equipment such as gas alarms, it is important that they work as intended, so that it is not a false sense of security, which can have fatal consequences. There are strict requirements and regulations for location, service and maintenance when working with ammonia and other dangerous refrigerants and gases.

Do you work with refrigerants, and do you want to be sure that you comply with all requirements and regulations - and most importantly - have a safe and secure workplace? So read or re-read our article here.
