Test: GP-NOVA for duct installation

One of our valued customers, specializing in Power to X, recently requested a test using our GP-NOVA for duct installation. For some installations, detecting gases directly in the ventilation duct can be a good solution.

Our two dedicated engineers, Gustav and Nicolai, conducted a sensor reaction test under high air velocity conditions using the GP-NOVA-V with a catalytic sensor for hydrogen measurement. The test reached up to 30 m/s. The goal was to determine the maximum airflow that doesn't affect the sensor's baseline reading, which can occur if the sensor cools down. Pure hydrogen was introduced into the duct after the fan, based on airflow in m³/h.

Test Results:
  • When introducing 5 l/m through a nozzle, the calibration gas enters the sintered metal filter at 11.783 m/s. The sensor reacts faster and remains accurate.
  • High airflow rates in ducts pose challenges for precise measurements, as it would require a substantial volume of gas.
  • Testing showed that high wind speeds do not significantly shift the baseline, moving only by 0.005V without clear correlation to wind speed.
These tests confirmed that the GP-NOVA can handle high airflow conditions without compromising accuracy, achieving our goal of ensuring reliable gas detection in ventilation systems.
